Who do I reach out to?įeel free to pop into the comments or shoot me a message! I'll be happy to help you out with anything you wanna know! (We also have Facebook (Facebook messenger preferred), Instagram, and TikTok as well as direct email to our board members if any questions should arise.) Our spring season this year runs from April through May, then we return to the pitch in the fall.ĭon’t worry, we’ll have you up to speed before your first match. Our league allows us to include both male and female athletes in various respects to promote the unity of the LGBT+ community. If you've been looking for a new team, a way to get back into the sport, or you just want to reignite the rugby passion in your bones, come through.Īs an Inclusive team, we welcome anyone and everyone over the age of 21. Although we pride ourselves on how many new faces we've brought into the sport, we've had plenty of guys join who already knew the ins and outs. I've played rugby before, is this event/team still a good fit for me?ĭefinitely. Don't be afraid, we have folks in all shapes, sizes, and ages who are active players on the team. Rugby's a cool sport because there's literally always a position for your body type and ability. I'm too fat/skinny/short/tall/old/out of shape for rugby. I've never even played an organized sport and I'm hopelessly uncoordinated, can I still come? Of course! You'd be surprised at how quickly you might take to the sport! Many of the Kodiaks have never played this sport or any sport before, but we are more than happy to help you with 1:1 assistance. Don't worry, we'll always be happy to take it at your pace. Since the team has only been around for a couple of years and we have new folks joining every season, all of us remember what it was like to be new. I**'ve never played or watched rugby, is this a good way to get a taste for it?**ĪBSOLUTELY! In fact, the majority of our team had never even touched a rugby ball before they started playing with us, but within weeks we were playing matches and having a great time together. Most injuries in rugby result from people not using basic safety precautions, and that's not something we mess around with. As a team, we focus a lot on making sure we use the right techniques and mechanics so that we minimize the risk of injury. All that we care about is that you be cool with all sorts of people.Īctually, no! While it is a full-contact sport, it's not as risky as you would think. Not at all! Our team is pretty close to a 50/50 split of queer and straight players. I'm straight, would I be an outsider on this team? We play a mix of IGR-affiliated and "straight" teams. We play in a league called International Gay Rugby aka IGR, which exists to spread the fun of rugby to all corners of the earth, and create an accepting and fun atmosphere for folks of all experience levels and backgrounds to learn about and try the game. Wear comfortable workout clothes and gym shoes. I'm including a Q+A below to help answer any questions, but If you have any questions tho, please don’t hesitate to reach out!!! We’d love to see or hear from you!Īll you need to worry about bringing is a water bottle. We travel to various cities, participate in tournaments and form a brotherhood related to the sport of Rugby. Our club was formed in the summer of 2016 to provide an inclusive positive group for the community. All are welcome, we just ask that you have an open mind and willingness to learn! The Columbus Kodiaks spring season is about kick-off and we look forward to any new/returning talent that is interested in jumping onto the pitch. Hey Columbus! Ready to Scrum? Want to try Rugby? If you put too many trees in your garden, it becomes classified as a forest and you can no longer use it as a garden. Is this true because this is mildly infuriating. I'm not allowed to replace some trees with fruit trees or make a vegetable garden and would even have to get rid of my chickens because it's not allowed to keep chickens in a forest. Because there were so many trees in the garden for so long (originally planted by my grandparents) he says it's now classified as a forest by the government. Because at least 80% is in bad shape, he advised to cut down everything (except a few "linde", "wilde kastanje", "walnoot" and some "grove den" which are doing ok) and replant with other native and drought resistant species. I just met with someone from a "bosgroep" about a lot of dead/dying trees in the back of the garden because of the droughts past years (mainly "spar", "lariks" and "tamme kastanje"). ![]()
